ONE-TIME PRINT OF ONLY 500! 97 LEFT!
The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge . . .
In the vast corpus of short stories in literature, few are as chilling as Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. We wanted to take this story and put it on the face of playing cards.
The print.
As card collectors, we love decks that are off the beaten path; there's just something fun about a unique and hand-made deck with a small print. This deck will have a one-off print of only 500. After that, no more will ever be printed. Each deck will be numbered accordingly.
Once the project is complete in August, we will have the decks in peoples' mailboxes by December, and likely much earlier, however we like to play it safe and will put December as our absolute deadline.
The art.
We were lucky to enlist the talents of Kellie Hawks, a local Portland artist, in designing this deck. Starting from the text itself, The Cask of Amontillado, Kellie made fifty five paintings by hand, and we adapted them onto the playing cards. What you get is a totally unique and diverse deck. While number cards are often the B-sides of a deck, Amontillado's are put front and center, each with a unique and colorful design. On top of it all, the original artwork for each card is available as a reward or as an add-on.
